Sometimes I do want to scream, "when do i get time off!" And I know someday we will! It does make me chuckle though. Because i remember BEFORE i had kids, i thought about how wonderful it was going to be! And for the most part it is. but after acid reflux, colic, ear infections, tubes, and teething, it can be very difficult sometimes!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3457950631635966154.post-47753624768879539792008-07-22T09:13:00.000-05:002008-07-22T09:13:00.000-05:00melanie - it doesn't seem controversial to me. Som...melanie - it doesn't seem controversial to me. Someone who is working two jobs, i.e. raising a family AND holding down a job outside the home MIGHT view someone who has one job (either raising a family or having an outside job) as an easier path than the person with two.
If someone had to work two jobs outside the home (a regular 9-5 and then waiting tables/tending bar in the evening or something similar) to make ends meet they would certainly view someone who only had the regular 9-5 as being "on vacation". When the topic of mothers/fathers staying home with kids gets brought up people always seem to get very defensive about it. If the mother/father is enjoying it and values it, who cares what anyone else or society thinks? People are too caught up in the thoughts of others anyway...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3457950631635966154.post-51681575820164930982008-07-22T07:40:00.000-05:002008-07-22T07:40:00.000-05:00ew. i hate when people leave anonymous controversi...ew. i hate when people leave anonymous controversial comments. really? maybe this person doesn't realize that your sister doesn't have kids so doesn't even know what it is to be a sahm, let alone be comparing a fulltimer/mommy gig.

argh. i work part time - i mean, i've got the school now, but even that is pt for now - and i l.o.v.e being home with the baby. but i know i'm lucky to be able to do it.

i thought i sent you my address. shoot. and my dominican address is really in florida (it's a service) i'll email it to you. thanksmelanie.https://www.blogger.com/profile/10168270218912474662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3457950631635966154.post-80859213760768237282008-07-21T21:39:00.000-05:002008-07-21T21:39:00.000-05:00Don't freak about the potty training.Age 3 seems t...Don't freak about the potty training.

Age 3 seems to be the magic number for boys. All our boys didn't potty train until then. I'm assuming our little boy will be ready around then too.

The nice thing is, when they're ready to potty train, they just kind of do it---one day they're ready and that's that!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3457950631635966154.post-25838756477963737442008-07-21T19:00:00.000-05:002008-07-21T19:00:00.000-05:00You are lucky to be able to have the one fulltime ...You are lucky to be able to have the one fulltime job of being home. sometimes people think it is a vacation to be with the kids all day but I remember when I was home that all I wanted was a job to be with grownups for a while. Once we were a few cars into it, we bought Cars stickers and made a chart. He got a sticker every time he went, and once he earned 5 stickers he got a car. We slowly increased the number of stickers needed to get a car, and eventually declared him Potty Trained and gave him one big Cars related toy and took down the chart. (It's Kim BTW. J hijacked my auto login again!)Jasonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12561632740820066654noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3457950631635966154.post-90459990642850004992008-07-21T16:31:00.000-05:002008-07-21T16:31:00.000-05:00Never say never, but I really don't anticipate bei...Never say never, but I really don't anticipate being able to stay at home when/if I have children. There are plenty of people that raise a family and work a full time job. Samara is blessed to not have to do that, but others have no choice if they want a home and to provide financially for their families. In that respect, someone could look at Samara and say that she is on vacation, when some families raise kids and work full time jobs.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3457950631635966154.post-30087586715580909632008-07-21T15:36:00.000-05:002008-07-21T15:36:00.000-05:00You make me laugh! Oh, for the day when A will finally understand - being a mother is a more than full time job (and the best one in the world)!

Enjoy your "vacation". How lucky you are to have this time to spend with your family.

Talk to you soon!Jon, Sara, Tyler, and Sophiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07245930400943688220noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3457950631635966154.post-55284223538445989522008-07-21T15:35:00.000-05:002008-07-21T15:35:00.000-05:00I just laughed so hard I snorted. And at least I can come home at 5pm and shut down, prop my feet up, and drink a (non-virgin) margarita! Here's to you...might want to pack some sunscreen and shades for that vacation you're on. ;) LUMI!Melissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11911197321063074394noreply@blogger.com
