Strawberry Pickin'.

This morning we went strawberry picking and it was the absolute perfect morning for it.

Nine (almost ten) pounds of strawberries later and we were on our way. When you've got three very active pickers it doesn't take long.

We loved the Bauer Berry Farm and plan on heading back sometime next month to pick some blueberries.

Now I'm working on freezing some of our berries and finding some yummy recipes (strawberry pie, anyone?) to make the most of our delicious crop.
Getting started.
She's a natural.
We had to remind this one that you couldn't eat them while you picked.
J oversaw us and held on to the good ones.
So lush and full.

I think the last time I was berry picking I was about H's age and while I don't exactly remember it, I remember being told about it. I was one of those who ate more berries than I put in my bucket. Thankfully H didn't take after me in that respect.
While E couldn't get in on the picking this year, I'm sure she will next year.

It looks like you all had so much fun! If only I had such cute pickers to pick with!

We were there about 11:45; bummer we missed you guys. This was the first time that we went berry picking and I was glad that I tried there (the staff was super friendly).

I made strawberry pie this afternoon - can't wait to try it. What else are you doing with all the berries?

@Sara: We were there about 8! We have early birds around here. I was also not sure how late they'd have picking but it sounds like later works too! I'm thinking I'm going to do a strawberry pie for sure and also probably some sort of 4th of July dessert. Otherwise I don't know. We'll freeze alot of them to save for smoothies and things throughout the year. Need to do some checking on when E can try them :)

My daughter works there and my son worked there when he was in high school. The owners are former teachers and they teach the kids how to work hard and they'll apologize and/or explain when they need to correct them or if they get frustrated with them. We are so thankful that both of our kids got their first job experiences at Bauer Berry Farm!

How fun...and great pictures! Did you notice the one of J looking like he had a mini farmer in his strawberry box? Ha!

Fun! I have to go get some fresh strawberries somewhere before I make jam with my in-laws. Might have to check that place out, usually we go to Pine Tree out in White Bear, but that looks like a neat place too!

What a perfect family outing. Everyone can participate and enjoy the fruits of their labor (haha... I crack myself up). There's nothing like fresh fruit in the summer. I wish I could come over for some pie!

That is very funny, now that someone has mentioned it. It DOES look like he has a mini farmer in his strawberry box! Just think how many shots you would have had to take if you tried to capture that optical illusion.
