Today Is Her Birthday.

She knew that it was her last birthday and I think that I knew, deep inside, I knew. We all did.

But we didn't want to think about that. It would be much easier to pretend that feeling wasn't there.

So we sang...
..and we wished.
For things to be different.
For healing to take place.
For the ugly, icky cancer to be just a bad dream.

But it wasn't.

It was real and it was raw and it was the last one we were able to celebrate, but it won't ever be missed or forgotten.

Because today is her birthday and we're thinking of her.

Samara-
I know today is a hard day. Think of your mom and all the beautiful times with her as you celebrate her today, on her birthday. She will never leave your heart.

I am still very impressed with the way you were able to celebrate life with your mom last year after she was diagnosed. Most people don't take the opportunity when it's there and you are left with such happy memories of the things you were able to do with her before she died. I know today will be hard, but remember there are people out there praying for you and your mom is probably enjoying the best birthday cake ever in heaven!

Her birthdays go on for you, and although bittersweet, it's a wonderful day to celebrate her life and your love for each other.

don't worry, s. i broke down about 24 hours after i wrote that post and decorated. we don't have a lot of stuff, no tree or anything so somehow i used that to justify myself :)

and now i won't have to kill myself before t-day dinner next week.

Your mom was one of a kind. You all were very lucky to spend the quality time you did in the last months of her life.

Most people have no idea when the end of their jorney is near. God gave you a gift of time knowing her end & that you would fullfill it with memories to cherish forever.

Your mom will always be in your heart.
