Bigs and Littles.

I think I scored some major points in the "Cool Stepmom" category on Friday when I surprised T and M by picking them up in the middle of their school day to head up north. They were shocked and super excited. We weren't back at the resort more than 30 minutes and they were both running, and I mean literally, running to get to the beach and the pool. There was a time, three years ago or so, when I wondered how on earth we would ever get to a point where H would get to do some of the same things as T and M.

Having two sets of age groups in the house makes for some very interesting entertainment planning.

And now I've been wondering for weeks, with the last day of school looming ahead, how on earth this summer was going to come together with planning for two school agers, a toddler and an infant.
Are there things we can all do together where we all will have fun?

Age appropriate things that the bigs enjoy, that the littles can join in on too.

I'm a planner. I think ahead. I'm always wondering, waiting and thinking about how it's going to look and feel down the road.

But I now am beginning to see and know the answer to my ponderings of three years ago, and even the more recent ones too...

Umm, yes.
It's happening.

Before my eyes.
Popsicles in the bathtub is my 'invention', as M calls it. I told you, we love us some good popsicles.
And it will not be long and E will be right there with the others.

Practicing at the driving range before a little Par 3 golfing.

There will always be an age gap. There will always be different interests, exposures and activities. But no matter what, these kids, my bigs and my littles, they sure know how to have a good time together.
And I hope that never, ever changes.

I too would be like you "thinking and pondering" what things everyone can enjoy.. beaches and pools and most outdoor activities seemed to have won the hearts of all your kids! Summer should be good...especially with those popsicles! ; )
