Blog Maintenance.

Time for me to do a little high maintenance check in.

*****
I did some changing and updating a few weeks back and since then have heard that some see my blog with a white background and some see it with grey.

I've tried to do some more tweaking and am hoping the issues have been resolved.

I see it with white and all the fonts are visible.

If you are seeing it in grey and having trouble seeing any of the fonts would you please do me a favor and let me know?

I am thinking it's a Mac vs PC issue.

*****
I joined twitter this past weekend.

I'm not sure why I felt I needed yet another social networking device in my life, but it's over now.

I think it had something to do with an outdated news story I read a couple weeks ago at the dentist.

Twitter is all the rage, right?

I do have to admit that I'm really liking it so far. I love that I can text an update from my phone and it updates both my twitter and my facebook. Fun to say something when we're out and about.

If you're on twitter, you can follow me and my updates by clicking here. (And even get my updates texted to your cell phone, which might be a little excessive, if you ask me.)

If you're not on twitter, you can see my updates either on the right hand column or also on facebook.

What do you think of the updates on the side column?
Is it too much?
Do people really care what we're doing?

*****
Sometimes companies send me a free sample of their product or book to review.

With that said, I will only review something honestly.

If I don't like the product or book, chances are a review will not appear here. (And this has happened several times.) If I do like it and feel that somehow someone else reading could benefit from it (be it a book, a product...) I will share.

I am not a paid-reviewer. Meaning, I am not compensated to say nice things about whatever it is that needs reviewing. Some companies are now offering bloggers compensation in return for reviews. I would rather keep my readers and review things I like and believe in than be paid for reviews I don't necessarily agree with.

Just wanted to clear that up.

*****

Can we please play another round of "Who's Reading"?

When I started blogging as a quit-my-corporate-job-not-sure-what-I'm-going-to-do-anymore stepmom back in 2005, I had maybe five people checking in. On a good day.

Now I'm a stepmom/mommy blogger with traffic hitting close to 500 daily.
(By the way for some of those big, famous blogs, 500 hits is nothing. Some bloggers get 500 comments daily.)

I just want to know who's 'out there' reading.
How you landed here?
If you'll stay?

And I've got a great prize to send out to one lucky commenter.
Winner to be chosen by random.org.

So leave me a comment between now and next Friday, or if you don't know how or that kind of freaks you out, why not send me an email and say hey, I'm here.

*****

Finally, a picture.

Happy Friday!

I see your background as grey, and the blue links are hard to see. I'm on a PC if that helps.

Ditto on the grey background and the "hidden" blue links. I am also on a PC. When you roll the mouse over the blue links though you can read them just fine. It's kind of like invisible ink and using the special marker to color over the words to make them appear!

I have the grey background and sometimes-hard-to-read blue links. And I'm pretty sure you know why I'm here! :)

I think I found your blog through Melissa VL, and one time I think you commented on my (now relatively inconsistent) blog. So that's that story...

I usually read your blog through Google Reader, so I don't see any fancy upgrades. But when I clicked the link to your blog, it's gray. Or grey ;)

I use firefox. Sometimes things show up differently than they would in Explorer.

I can read it just fine! : )
-pc owner here-
I quite like the twittering, not sure I want to hop on the train yet. I do like when I check your blog that I can read what you and your family has been up to - without having to wait for a post. It's fun!
I'm your ex-nanny, which is sad to say, those kids of ours just getting cuter and cuter and I'm missing out, but the blogs help me at least stay in touch with you and watch from a distance how fast they're growing!

I can read it just fine and I like the Twitter thing on the side. I added it to my blog too and have been liking it so far.

And I have obviously been reading for awhile and I plan to stay! :)

I see a white background.
I heard about your blog from your mom & Dad. I find it interesting as I also have a stepson.

Jon was 6 yrs old when his father & I were married. His mom and I have become very good friends. I have been there for her to lean on thru her tough times & she mine. I think our friendship has made a positive impact on his life.

Jon at times has felt more comfortable talking to me about differant situations then he has his parents. I have always told him that he can run things by me but he has to go to his mom & dad for the final word.

Now that he has graduted & I see him going off to college it just reminds me that "Life is too fast" and we need to cherish the moments in their early life.

I enjoy reading your entries and seeing the pictures. Thank You for sharing.

Smiles,
Linda Fuller

Hi there,

I use a PC and see everything just fine...

I stumbled onto your blog from a link on No One's the Bitch site...I've only recently found your blog - but I love it!

I love that you're a stepmom (as am I), but that it doesn't consume your life. I don't have quite the relationship with my stepkids's mom as you do, but I strive for it.

You're a great writer, and I really enjoy reading your blog. Thanks!

I see your background as grey, and I'm on a Mac. And I found you via Melissa of I Love the Kitchen, though we had met once briefly at Sarah and Mike's years ago, too. I probably stop in once a week, though I don't comment very often.

I have a mac, and I also see the background as grey...but the links show up as a pink-ish color and are fairly easy to see anyway.

I also found your blog through someone else's...I think Ann-Marie's. Maybe Melissa's. But either way, it was fun to find you since we knew each other way back when.

I really enjoy reading your blog and definitely will be staying! :)

I have seen it recently both gray and white. Usually white, and I always use explorer on a PC. Weird.

I have been reading your blog for years; since the old address, and I am so glad. You make me laugh, cry, and think - depending on the post.

So glad to know you!!
