Just When I Needed It Most.

"Mama?" H says quietly as we watched the Olympics this afternoon.

"Someday, I'm going to be in the Olympics on one of those sleds."

"That's awesome!" I tell him while also thinking of all the times I recall dreaming Olympic dreams while watching the Olympics as a little girl.

"I'm going to be on the sled going really fast and I'll go like this." He tells me while demonstrating just how he'll lay on this sled. "I'm going to hold your hand so that you're with me. We might crash."

And I melt. Because I needed that sweetness from our struggles this week.

"So, will you hold my hand?"

Of course H, I'll always hold your hand.

A glimpse and remembrance that beneath all that tough 3 1/2 year old facade, he's still my boy and he'll always be.

Amazing how little moments like this can help lift our spirits! You have such a wonderful blog, I feel like I can see the exact moments your posts talk about.

Having been in your shoes - especially with the rough patches you've had recently - I can say that the sweet moments like the hand holding comments will forever overshadow the nasty ones.

Thanks for sharing...as a new blogger, I can only hope to aspire to your level of awesomeness!

I'm so glad for you that you had this moment to remind you that he is still your sweet boy. It's a good thing you have a blog to remind you of these times... you'll probably need them in the teen years! :)

You've had struggles with your 3 1/2 year old? What's wrong with you? Are you like a lama mama or something? I mean, 3 1/2-year-olds are basically perfect and never ever defiant. I'm shocked.

:-)

Oh friend, I love this sweet little conversation with your budding Olympian. I think a new winter sport is in order - the mother/son luge.

And yep, of course you will always hold his hand.

You're awesome. I miss you and thanks for playing along!!
