Ring A Ling Ling: Our Kids Are Calling.

I'm guest blogging over at Cribsheet today about something on my mind these days.

Parents, kids and cell phones.

And by that I mean, parents using cell phones around their kids.

(Like sitting on the park bench texting while watching your kids play at the park sort of cell phone use. Talking for an hour while you walk around the park trails.)

We could totally extend that whole idea and make it about technology in general. Cell phones. Texting. Facebook. Twitter. Blogging.

For me, I try, when possible to not be on the computer or have long chats on the phone unless it's naptime or bedtime around here. And sometimes, in the car.

Am I perfect? No way, Jose'.

I confess sometimes I pop in to write something funny that just happened or is happening on Facebook.

Maybe reply to an email quick.

I try to keep phone calls to a minimum, but sometimes I have to call and make an appointment or business phone call.

I don't blog during awake times except to maybe hit Publish on a pending post I've already written.

I'm just wondering.

With all the talk of our kids and their exposure to the media, I think that cell phones and parents using them is yet another media exposure, so how is that affecting our kids?

As a side note, as we were picking up a movie at the Redbox tonight, there was not just one, but two moms on their phones eating at McDonalds with their kids. One was talking on it, the other was texting or surfing the web, or who knows.
