Christmas Traditions #2

Baking!
Saturday morning found Miss M, myself and M's mom, Lori busy baking holiday cookies and treats. (H was there too, but no pictures to commemorate.) We had a great time and made a lot of cookies.

M and her mom rolling out the dough. The baking girl. Don't you love her little get-up?
Roll out cookies waiting to be decorated!
Decorating cookies (and maybe nibbling a little bit too.) Lori and I. Maddy and Mom.
Ta-Da. Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies, Roll Out Sugar Cookies and my personal favorite, Fudge. Yum!

I have to tell you, this was a highlight of my weekend last weekend and got me even more excited about Christmas. It was fun to sit in the kitchen, listen to Christmas music, drinking Caribou cocoa that Lori brought with her and chat about our Christmas traditions and families.

*What are some of your Christmas traditions? I'll be sharing several of mine (and ours) from now through Christmas and would love to know some of yours too...*

Yummy! Cookies!!!
For baking like that, I normally start the first week in Dec. and make up a couple batches at a time. I make them up and decorate them while the kids are at school, as a nice treat for after school. They say they love walking through the door smelling the cookies... If my kitchen was big enough, I would have them help, but sadly, we just don't have the room... Maybe at the next house?!

That's so cool! How neat that you and M and her mom all made Christmas cookies together. What a nice memory for M -- and for you guys, too.

i love that you're getting so fully into the Christmas season. time with family, making your home warm and cozy - embracing the gifts you've been blessed with in this life. i'm still trying to get over this dang cold, but promise i'll be a Christmas elf with traditions of my own to post soon enough! :)

want to know the truth? I got a little kit at Michaels that has the "learning to knit" book, two sets of needles, and other basic stuff... I think it is only $25.. Then I got a couple things of yarn, sat down and practiced the different knits that it shows... I think I have 20 or so little squares that I used to "practice" with.. Then I just branched out to other books...

Kudos to you and Lori! That is fantastic that you can do that together and I am sure it means a lot to your daughter.

All step-families should be like that.
